Sport should be fun – only then can it become an integral part of lifestyle. In the COMET competence centre “Digital Motion” led by Salzburg Research, industrial companies work together with research institutes to develop smart running and skiing equipment. At the end of September, the project team hosted the “Digital Motion Day” as part of the Millenium Innovation Days #2021 in Lustenau, Vorarlberg.
The Millenium Innovation Days (MID) are an annual meeting place for all stakeholders who want to actively shape the future by developing new technologies and solutions. The programme includes the latest high-tech developments from the textile industry – smart textiles, electronics and digitalisation.
The Digital Motion team reported on the current research work in the COMET Competence Centre: the interplay between emotion and movement plays a central role in the development work. The opportunity of wearables in the performance area was discussed, but also critically questioned. Other points were sensor integration in sports equipment and textiles, the perspective of consumers and the necessary research management. And how agile working brings all these perspectives and disciplines under one roof and leads smartly to the goal. Last but not least, the opportunity to have a physical exchange between experts and interested parties was very inspiring!
